How to Start a Service Business

wpff04f410.png

There is no lack of business in the service industry, and if you develop a good reputation you will have all the business you can handle.

FIRST- Choose your service business. Sometimes you can offer more than one service, just be sure you know how to do what you are offering. (duh!)

Some of the services you can offer:

Pet Care

Lawn Care

Babysitting

Organizing

Cleaning

Running Errands

Plant Care

Housesitting

Tutoring

Secretarial Services

SECOND - Make a nice brochure or flyer telling all about what you are offering to do, and how much you charge.   You can do this on any publishing program. You will also want to design yourself some business cards, too. Don’t forget to include a way for people to contact you!

THIRD - Print a dozen or so of your flyers and biz cards,  preferable on a laser printer if you have one available. The ink on a laser printer doesn’t run if it gets a drop of water on it.

FOURTH - Pass out the flyers to friends, relatives, etc. If you ask first, many stores will let you post your ad somewhere in their store.

FIFTH - While you are waiting for some replies, make your self a ‘contact’ form for when they call. This is so you don’t forget to ask important information about the people who call you. Include items like name, phone number, email address, and what they need from you. Include a place for the time agreed upon to do the job or to give an estimate.

SIXTH - After you have finished each assignment (job), immediately record all your details like date worked, amount paid, expenses for the job. Keep this in a notebook along with all your other business information.

Congratulations! You are off to a great start! But it doesn’t stop there. You will need to continue to find new customers  and improve your service. Be the best at what you do, and you will always succeed.
