Entrepreneur Track - Science 2-4 credits

Science Projects for Profit

While the two credits required for a non-college bound student (earth science & biology) are non-negotiable, don’t forget that if you have a math or science whiz, you can add science-related activities that will increase their expertise in the area of their possible future business. One of my sons enjoyed gardening with me, and would help me start seeds every year. You guessed it, one year he started about 100 tomato plants from seed and sold them after they were big enough to bring a good price. (We made the pots out of newspaper!)

Computer Science

This is a gray area, but once you are sure your graduation requirements are met, check with your umbrella school or whoever governs your school standards, and see what computer science courses might be applied as a science course. Learning some of the new computer languages is no easy assignment, but if your child loves computers, they could be writing their first software programs before they graduate high school!

Go to “Getting Online” for some computer courses that teach some very useful computer skills that can help build a business!
